Luxury Kitchens | shades Of Grey
Court Homemakers have created a stylish space with a pared-back palette and plenty of hidden depths.
What was the brief you gave to Court Homemakers?
We wanted to open up the kitchen area to give more storage space, and as much preparation area as possible.
Can you describe the nature of the property, and the space you were working with?
The property is a detached bungalow, and from the front it still looks that way. However, at the back it’s now been completely extended to enable the open-plan living we wanted, and to integrate the all-important kitchen area with the main living areas.
How did you use colour and lighting in the space?
We chose the bi-fold doors so that we’d have lots of natural light flooding into the room, therefore any additional lighting was really to maximise this natural feel.
We added ceiling lighting combined with LED strip-lights under the seating area and under the sink cabinets to accentuate these features.
Were there any challenges, and if so how did you overcome them?
The biggest issue really was that we had too many colour options for our kitchen. We had a grey colour palette in mind, but Lee, the designer, gave us the idea to use three colours in the kitchen, as the design lead to it.
As a result, the island is the darkest, followed by the base cabinets, then the wall cabinets are the lightest.
We are really pleased with the result.
We knew after speaking with Lee Court Homemakers could do everything else for us and they did.
Lee listened to what we wanted and came up with a design that not only met our expectations, but surpassed them in terms of quality design, and they were also very competitive.
